We got tired of sharing Stripe keys over Slack
Agent Billy started as an internal tool at a SaaS company where the ops team kept asking the CTO for “just a second” with his laptop to issue a refund. There had to be a better way.
The pattern is the same at every company past 10 people: billing questions pile up, support tickets go unanswered because only one person can access Stripe, and that one person — usually the founder or CTO — becomes a bottleneck for a $15 refund.
The obvious fix is to give more people Stripe access. But Stripe's built-in team roles are coarse, and the alternative most small teams fall back on is sharing the owner login or a secret key. Either way, you hand someone the keys to your entire revenue, or you don't.
Billy sits between your team and Stripe. It holds your restricted API key in Azure Key Vault — a key with only the permissions Billy needs — and exposes a clean, role-based interface to your team. Managers can issue refunds up to $5,000. Clerks up to $100. Support staff can look everything up but change nothing.
